How far in advance do I need to apply?

Whilst we can often make arrangements for service placements within as little as 1 or 2 weeks, we suggest that volunteers book as early as possible, with 6 to 8 weeks being an ideal amount of time to adequately prepare for this type of trip. Booking early also allows volunteers to get cheaper flights, which is often the biggest expense in this process! Remember that once you apply and have been accepted, you will have just 14 days to register and secure your post on the program, otherwise your application will be cancelled.
